Wands at the ready as this time next year the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them sequel will be in cinemas.
To celebrate Warner Bros. have revealed that the title of the sequel will be Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald.
The film, which is scheduled for a November 16, 2018 release, will have a screenplay written by wizarding world creator herself, J.K Rowling.
Bringing Rowling’s script to life is David Yates, who is returning as director following his filmmaking magic on the first Fantastic Beasts instalment and the last four Harry Potter films. It was confirmed last year that the Potter spin-off series will consist of five films.

The second instalment will see the return of Eddie Redmayne as magic zoologist Newt Scamander, Katherine Waterston as Porpentina ‘Tina’ Goldstein, Alison Sudol as Tina’s sister Queenie and Dan Fogler as no-maj (muggle) Jacob. Ezra Miller will also be reprising his role as Credence in the sequel.
The new cast includes Zoë Kravitz as Leta Lestrange, and Johnny Depp as villain and dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald.
Jude Law will enter the wizarding world as the younger version of Dumbledore, one of Harry Potter’s much-loved characters and the future headmaster at Hogwarts.
The Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald’s synopsis goes as following:
“Grindelwald (Depp) has made a dramatic escape and has been gathering more followers to his cause – elevating wizard’s above all non-magical beings. The only one who might be able to stop him is the wizard he once called his dearest friend, Album Dumbledore. But Dumbledore will need help from the wizard who had thwarted Grindelwald once before, his former student Newt Scamander. The Adventure reunites Newt with Tina (Katherine Waterston), Queenie (Alison Sudol) and Jacob (Dan Fogler), but his mission will also test their loyalties as they face new perils in an increasingly dangerous and divided wizarding world.”
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them earned $814 million worldwide when released last year, proving that the wizarding world’s magic will forever carry on.
